This week on The Ultimate Fighter 7, the last eight "Fight-In" matches were held. Rampage continued to amuse me, too. He started the night evaluating the fighters by looking at their pictures and commenting that "There are some ugly ass guys here." We were also teased with the promise of "the most brutal knock out yet." Admittedly, I was skeptical. I figured it was a line to tempt people to tune in. Along the lines of "The most shocking elimination yet" or "The most emotional rose ceremony yet." Yeah, I'm a girl and I watch The Bachelor.

Anyway, the first fight of the night ended up being the best fight of the night. Matthew Riddle, Southpaw Red, versus Dan Simmler. Dan is from Matt Serra's camp, so I expected him to be pretty good. And he was... at least for the first round. At the very beginning of the second round, he walked into a right that knocked him silly. That was a knockout.

Dan laid on the mat for a while groaning. I think the trainer said that his jaw was broken. His eyes never closed, but there was no one home. After they got him to the back, he didn't know where he was. He asked Rampage what he was doing there. Over and over, even as they put him in the ambulance, he kept asking was it a practice or a real fight. The guy had no clue.

After that fight, the rest of the night was kind of anti-climatic. The coaches' commentaries during the fights continued to have me laughing. You could tell that Rampage is relatively new to the UFC because he was unfamiliar with some of the rules. Dana got in a few digs to Rampage about his assistant coaches. As corner men for these matches, they weren't doing so hot. So Rampage jokingly asked Forrest for his.

The fighter with the most heart, for me, was one that didn't make it into the house. Jeremiah Riggs lost his fight, but made a good impression on both Dana and Rampage. The kid was seriously over-matched, but he never gave up. When all was done, his fight went to a decision. His face looked like he lost a prize fight. He just would not give up.

Rampage was getting frustrated because some of the fighters wouldn't listen. He didn't understand why a kid fighting for his life on the show would not listen to a champion and possible coach. I guess it doesn't matter because the kid he was talking about lost his match badly.

There were a couple of other fighters that I will keep my eye on. Matt Brown was fierce in winning by TKO and Tim Credeur made his guy tap out pretty darned quickly. Jesse Taylor is another arrogant loudmouth to join Jeremy May.

At the end of the sixteen fights, Dana addressed the group. He commended them for proving him wrong: there were no posers or quitters in the group. Unfortunately, though, sixteen of the fighters had to leave. I can't wait until next week on The Ultimate Fighter when we'll get to hear the real evaluations of the fighters by the two coaches, at least I hope there are real evaluations, and see the teams that they pick.
