Hello, boys and girls, once again it's time we take a peek at everyone's favorite part of going to the movies: coming attractions.

Rise: Blood Hunter
Directed by: Sebastian Gutierrez
Starring: Lucy Liu, Michael Chiklis, Carla Gugino

Sony Pictures seems intent on sticking with the basics in the selling of this picture. There are three things I take away from this trailer.

Number one:
The people behind Rise: Blood Hunter previously made not one, but two pretty worthless features. The guys who produced this also produced The Grudge. They want to make sure you are very aware of this fact. The title is splattered with blood-red ink just to make sure the point really gets across. Then we're told the guy who wrote Gothika has also written and directed this Lucy Liu vampire flick. You have to admire Sony for laying it all out on the table like that. This is what we call "full disclosure". There will be no slimy car salesman-like approach here. No sir.

Number two:
Sex is good. Lucy Liu is a babe but Carla Gugino is smoking hot. If she really were a vampire, she could totally sink her teeth into my neck. I think they're gearing up for mass quantities of nudity here, or at least an unrated director's cut on DVD.

Number three:
This movie has nothing original going for it. Vampires. You bit me, now I want revenge. Michael Chiklis. Lesbian kiss. End credits. Why try when you can just recycle?

Bug

This is a really short trailer, clocking in at about a minute and ten seconds but it sure does get the point across. This movie is about bugs. The kind that get under your skin. Quick cuts of some fairly disturbing images start about halfway through this baby as the voice tells us, "They live in your blood". Oooh. Then, "And they feed on your brain". Ewww. See, you don't need to name-check The Grudge or Gothika when you have voice-over work like that.

It's apparent that this is more of a psychological thriller than a standard horror flick and it's at least got me interested. Then again, I'll see anything the Trailer Man tells me to. The deep vibrations in his voice, those powerful vocal folds at work when he says, "From the Academy Award winning director of The Exorcist" ... it sends a tingle down my spine. Come on, you know I'm not alone here.

Uh, right?
