TiVo this! can't-miss movies on TV
Film.com
I scour the skeds so you don't have to, to find the hidden movie gems from all over the channelverse: from the HBO family of channels, Showtime and The Movie Channel, and Turner Classic Movies, which air films uncut and uninterrupted (and sometimes in letterbox). But ya gotta turn to The SciFi Channel once in a while, too, commercials and editing be damned -- there's nothing like geeking out in front of the tube with really bad movies featuring built-in breaks for munchie refills and snark attacks. (All times are Eastern. Times between midnight and 5:59am actually refer to the previous date. In other words, 2am Saturday really means the overnight twilight zone between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Links in movie titles go to my review. Movies frequently air more than once over the course of the month, so if you miss something mentioned here, search listings for additional showings.) THURSDAY 11.02 HBO2 5:00PM: Flashdance. What a feeeeel-in'! FRIDAY 11.03 TCM Prehistoric fun! 8:00PM: King Kong. The 1933 classic. HBO 8:00PM: Unleashed. A modern fairy tale wrapped up in martial arts. Stars Jet Li. Cinemax 2:30PM: The Avengers. The Ralph Fiennes/Uma Thurman disaster. One of the worst films ever made, which makes it a must-see. OuterMax 4:15AM: Screamers. Based on Philip K. Dick and starring Peter Weller, so you know you want to see it. SATURDAY 11.04 TCM 8:00PM: The Thin Man. Nick and Nora make alcoholism look so elegant .... Cinemax 7:15PM: Chicken Run. Get the pluck out of there. OuterMax 4:40PM: Enemy Mine. Dennis Quaid and Louis Gosset Jr. have a baby on an alien planet. TMC 9:45PM: Highlander III: The Final Dimension. It's so much fun to watch a movie series jump the shark with every movie. SUNDAY 11.05 Cinemax 12:30PM: Dragonslayer. Remember in the '80s when there were all those silly fantasy movies? That was a great time .... MONDAY 11.06 TCM 8:00PM: 1776. How America Was Born: The Musical. HBOSignature 2:00PM: The Right Stuff. Adventures in Astronauting: The Early Years. SHO 6:35PM: Primer. Trippy time-traveling SF indie. TUESDAY 11.07 HBO 10:30AM: Airplane II: The Sequel. To the Moon! Cinemax 5:00AM: Local Hero. Modern classic about how pretty darn cool small-town Scotland can be. SHO 12:45PM: Withnail and I. Brit cult fave. WEDNESDAY 11.08 OuterMax 9:30AM: Legend. Remember what I said about silly fantasy movies from the '80s? Here ya go. OuterMax 10:00PM: A Sound of Thunder. So bad it's funny. No, I mean really funny. SHO 1:35PM: The Big Lebowski. Apparently it's about bowling. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Most Popular Stories
