The Hills: Crowded House
As usual there was girlfriend drama for LC. We were just psyched that Spencer barely made an appearance in this episode.
MTV
I loved this episode of The Hills for one reason alone: Spencer Pratt did not make an appearance until twenty-two minutes into the show. Not even the reappearance of Justin Bobby could detract from that bliss. So, now that Lauren and Whitney have been reunited at work, Lauren has someone to complain about her life to again. This week's hot topic, Audrina's renewed friendship with Heidi. Lauren thankfully dropped the all-about-me attitude she'd been taking on the subject the last two episodes. She acknowledged that Audrina had the right to do whatever she wanted in the apartment, but also confessed that she didn't want people she didn't get along with in her home. Quite the quandary. After last week's disaster, Heidi decided to give girls' night out another try and invited Stephanie out to a club named Goa. This was the same club that Lauren, Audrina, and Lo would be at, and Heidi expressed hope that this might be the night Lauren would finally, magically, be cool with her again. Meanwhile at the Hillside Villas, Lauren was less than enthusiastic at the prospect of seeing her. At the club, Stephanie was the first to spot Justin Bobby, and she and Heidi ran over to warn Audrina the first chance she got (meaning, the first time Lauren and Lo got up from the table). Lauren returned with a glass of champagne, and a chilly request for everyone to "make some room" at the table. Heidi then began to tell Audrina how she hoped they could all just get along (funny, but she never mentioned that to Lauren), and then suddenly, Justin Bobby joined the group. For all her talk about being the bigger person and having no problem with Lauren, Heidi sure made a much bigger effort to get on Justin's good side, and laughably suggested they should all hang out in a big group. (Justin was game for it). I couldn't really blame Lauren for fleeing the table, and the club. The next morning, eternal optimist Stephanie told Heidi she felt good progress had been made last night. Somehow, Stephanie believes that Lauren and Heidi sitting at the same table, not talking, and then Lauren's leaving means that they're on their way towards being friends again. But the night hadn't lived up to Heidi's expectations. She said that things were still so weird between her and Lauren. It was here that I picked up on Heidi's new trick to avoid ever discussing what ended their friendship. When the subject comes up, she lowers her head and mumbles "But, I don't know." And Stephanie just blinks her eyes and pretends not to know, either. At Lauren's place, Lauren was sad that Lo has to drive a distance to see her, and came to the spontaneous conclusion that the only solution would be for her and Lo to get a house together when the lease at the Hollywood Villas runs out in the near future. They decide together that they will also invite Audrina to move in with them, under the condition that she doesn't bring Heidi or Justin Bobby (who Audrina was dining with at the time) to the house. Ever. The next morning, Lauren passive-aggressively interrogated Audrina about her dinner with Justin, and was clearly unhappy to learn that Audrina felt "there'll always be something" with him, and that she also was happy to have Heidi back as a friend. Poor Audrina didn't even realize she was failing a test to see if she'd be allowed into the new house. And here's where things started to get weird. Heidi went to Stephanie's apartment, looking for Stephanie but finding Spencer instead (then lying and claiming she was there to see him), and for the second week in a row, Spencer came off as sounding like an intelligent, rational man. He wouldn't listen to Heidi's whining about how she went to Goa with Stephanie and had a really uncomfortable time because Lauren was there. Spencer rightfully called her out on the fact that she'd clearly gone there hoping to see Lauren, and attempted to knock some sense into her about her unreasonable expectation that Lauren's just going to get over everything and be her friend again. This time, instead of saying "But, I don't know," Heidi just got up and left. The episode ended with an awkward meeting between Lauren, Lo, and Audrina over Mexican food. After several urgent looks from Lo, Lauren finally told Audrina about their plans to get a house. They never asked Audrina to move in with them, but just kept asking over and over if she knew what she was doing when the lease ran out. Audrina finally said what she'd thought (or maybe hoped) they'd wanted her to say -- that she'd love to move in with them. Lauren and Lo immediately acted enthusiastic, but their celebration only lasted a few seconds. Then it was back to awkward silence, and clear, instant regret over what they'd just agreed to. Looks like this new house will be filled with as much drama as the old apartment. Most Popular Stories
