HELP! We've lost the groom in Vegas! -

Imagine having the time of your life, but not remembering a thing? Might sound all too familiar for some... In fact, Old School director Todd Phillips' riotously brilliant new comedy is a guaranteed scream because it's an ugly experience most people can relate to, or some secretly long for by throwing all adult responsibility and caution to the wind for one night of unconditional fun. For all those facing impending nuptials out there, there'll be plenty of mental note-taking happening to make sure the big night out is as equally 'unmemorable' and goes off with a bang - for either sex.
Phillips has borrowed elements of his classic 2003 hit about recapturing our youth for this 2009 version, adding a sobering streak of reality to it. However, what elevates The Hangover above usual run-of the-mill Vegas comedies is its dark and unforgiving un-P.C. heart that beats to a totally unpredictable and insane plot, requiring its audience not just to get onboard the adventure to some of Vegas's lesser-known tourist spots, but to turn detective along with its characters, and find missing stag Doug (Justin Bartha). These admirable qualities, thanks to a solid script, are further enhanced by the wonderfully believable bromance and male chemistry between its three, very different leads, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) who 'stand by their missing man', and make it their mission (and ours) to find their AWOL buddy who is desperately needed back as the glue that bonds them. -------- Cooper, Helms and Galafianakis are a fantastic comedy trio who each bring their own brand of droll expertise to the fold. But it's Galafianakis as oddball 'man child' Alan who eclipses the three, representing the hairy big kid in us all, whilst having us genuinely question the strength and validity of our own best buddy relationships. This film is sure to launch stand-up comic Galafianakis' movie career and make him an overnight, deserved household name. Indeed, Alan and the guys in their tricky and physical quest begin to feel like old friends. And by the time the end credits roll and the evidence is played back - the first time you will ever enjoy sitting through credits - you feel a mixture of exhilaration; pride for the guys at pulling of THE stag night of all nights; envy for not being part of the party; and thoroughly entertained for the rest of the day. ---- Throw in hilarious moments like a cameo from Mike Tyson singing a Phil Collins number, Helms' piano serenade, and Ken Jeong as camp gangster Chow, as well as the sexy curves and refreshing brand of cutesy humour from Heather Graham as 'stripper with a heart', Jade, and you have a winner to coax the devil out from within. The Hangover is the complete polar opposite to its title; side-splittingly hilarious, hyper-energetic and something you'll want to experience over and over again. Synopsis ------- Two days before his wedding, Doug and his three buddies drive to Vegas for a blow-out night they'll never forget. But when the three groomsmen wake up the next morning with pounding headaches, they can't remember a thing. Their posh hotel suite is beyond trashed and the groom is nowhere to be found. With no clue of what happened and little time to spare, the trio must attempt to retrace their bad decisions from the night before in order to figure out where things went wrong and hopefully get Doug back to L.A. in time for his wedding. However, the more they begin to uncover, the more they realize just how much trouble they're really in. ---- Film Facts ---- Official site: http://www.thehangovermovie.co.uk/ UK Release Date: 12th June 2009 Director: Todd Phillips Writers: Jon Lucas, Scott Moore Cast: Bradley Cooper ('Phil Wenneck'), Ed Helms ('Stu Price'), Zach Galifianakis ('Alan Garner'), Justin Bartha ('Doug Billings'), Heather Graham ('Jade'), Ken Jeong ('Mr Chow'), Sasha Barrese ('Tracy'), Bryan Callen ('Eddie'), Rachael Harris ('Melissa'), Jeffrey Tambor ('Sid'), Mike Tyson (as himself) Distributor: Warner Bros UK Certificate: 15 Run-time: 100 mins Most Popular Stories
