The Final Destination -
Entertainment
The Final Destination is big, bold, brassy and literally right in your face action - it is over the top and all the better for it! Ok, so the story may have been done before, but there is a new generation on the block that may not have seen the original, and deciding to do this latest instalment in 3D was not only genius, but, quite simply, the perfect way to conclude the Final Destination franchise. From the moment it starts you are playing the guessing game; when, who and how death will begin its gory disposal of unsuspecting victims. It opens with an explosive car race disaster and as much as you try and play it cool, you will jumping back in your seats as the debris comes hurtling out of the screen right at you. Writer Eric Bress and director David R. Ellis who brought us Final Destination 2 were brought back for the final instalment. Visually they cranked it up - it is almost a shame that the technology wasn't ready for the previous films as it takes it to a whole new level. Whilst it is not as ‘dark' as the previous films, it doesn't seem to matter. The premise is there and they have upped the ante with this one. Apart the the first one, this time the premonitions are more like clues, so it becomes a true game as you never know how they are actually gonna die. The 3D is spectacular, there is no denying it. If you have seen the previous films don't let this deter you. Watching it in 3D gives it a new breath of life and definitely adds tension. You feel you are now part of the film as it is no longer about how will they die, but what will come soaring at you! It also has a humour, whether that was intentional, or not, so, don't take it too seriously and get involved. The grim reaper is back bigger, faster and more determined than ever. Synopsis On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave... escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one in increasingly gruesome ways, Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination.
