The Bachelorette: It's DeAnna's Turn

It's DeAnna's turn. The girl that was ditched on national TV now has another chance for her fairy-tale ending. ABC and DeAnna, herself, seem to think that she's now America's sweetheart and they plan to play that up. We got to see her humiliation a couple of times tonight and I'm sure we'll be reminded of it with amazing regularity. Not that I have anything against her, but it wasn't that big a deal to me. I always felt that if Brad didn't feel it, he didn't feel it. Break up now, or in a couple of months. Face it, this show doesn't have a great track record. Though, The Bachelorette does have the only marriage of the franchise, and the expectations are huge.

As I watched the introductions, I wrote the names of the guys that stood out to me, so I could compare them after the first Rose Ceremony. I realize that they probably edited the chosen ones better than the others, but they did introduce them all. The ones that made initial impressions were Jason, the single dad; Ryan, the pro football player with the virgin role; and Richard, the science teacher with the nerd role.

Later during the limo introductions, I fell in like with Jesse, the pro snowboarder that wore a loud jacket, jeans and Chuck Taylors with hot-pink laces. I was also impressed by Eric, who spoke Greek to DeAnna, and Robert, the chef, who did a salsa dance with her before he went into the house.

DeAnna looked beautiful in a flowing gold gown. As soon as she walked into the house, she gave out the first of her three first-impression roses. This guy must have made an awesome first impression because this is just from the limo introduction. Jeremy, an attorney from Dallas, got the honor. I must have missed something, because even though I saw his entrance, he didn't make that much of an impression on me.

She then introduced the guys to Jenni, her friend and the other Brad rejectee, who was there to help her sort through the other guys. DeAnna had 24 guys to choose from, but only two more first-impression roses and twelve other roses to give out at the Rose Ceremony.

The guys were falling all over themselves trying to get her attention. Robert made her a delicious-looking crab salad. Sean, a martial arts instructor, kicked a lemon off of Jesse's head. Paul, from Canada, took off his suit coat and jumped into the pool. When he got out, he stripped down to his Speedos and revealed that he had DeAnna's name on his butt.

With some input from Jenni, DeAnna chose Jesse, the snowboarder and Richard, the science guy to receive the last two first-impression roses. At the Rose Ceremony, the following guys received roses: Ron, Graham, Eric (the Greek speaker), Robert (the chef), Sean, Ryan (the football player), Chris, Paul, Fred, Twilley, Jason (the single dad) and Brian W. (the Texan). All of my picks made it, and so did a couple that I didn't think would. I'm not sure if I'd have chosen Sean, the lemon kicker, or Paul, the Speedos dude.

The previews for upcoming episodes of The Bachelorette promise us the most dramatic season ever. Didn't we hear that last time? Anyway, I'm sure there will be some drama. Even though we may miss out on the catfights, I'm sure we'll see some out-of-control testosterone battles. DeAnna has what seem to be some nice guys here and it should be a good season.
