Summer 2008 At the Movies Can't Come Soon Enough

We had a hard time narrowing down the list of movies we want to see this summer...

When it comes to the movies, this summer is chock-full of big names and high expectations. The summer of 2007 was good; we had Live Free or Die Hard and Transformers in there, but this summer the list of titles is glorious for the average movie-goer. While I find myself curious and excited about a chunk of these flicks, I've narrowed it down my five faves. Check it out!

The Dark Knight 1.) The Dark Knight
Wow, this film looks creepy. Though I'm typically not an epic film fanatic, the bouts of acting to be seen in this to-be hit film caught my attention at first glance, spiking my curiosity. I have to admit, I have no idea what the plot entails, but just watching Heath Ledger's work in the trailer paired with Christian Bale’s face has me counting down the days until release. Fandango.com here I come!

Sex and the City 2.) Sex and The City
Yes, I am one of those girls that almost cried when this show ended. Like everyone says, all good things must come to end. I guess I’m glad it ended ahead of the game instead of behind. I already don’t care whether or not this film is a bomb, I’ve already got the girls night out on the calendar.

Wanted 3. Wanted
I can’t wait to see this film. I’m not sure whether it's the idea of Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy together in one film or the crazy, action scenes we’re sure to see here that get me most. The trailer definitely leaves you wanting more and I am certainly of the opinion that Universal Pictures has a good grasp on action flicks. Either way, come June 27, 2008 you know where to find me, tucked away in a theater somewhere eating popcorn and drinking Diet Coke.

Mamma Mia! 4.) Mamma Mia!
I did a double take when I saw this title. I have to say that I am so happy to see the return of the movie-musical. I suppose there is only a small niche that enjoys these films and that they may be generally harder to sell given the difficulties with casting, however, I cannot wait! Meryl Streep singing “Dancing Queen?” Forget it!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 5.) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I must say, of all the comebacks we’ve seen over the course of the past year, I have the highest of hopes for Mr. Indiana Jones. There is something much more loveable about this character than Rocky or John McClane. Plus, the addition of the incredible Cate Blanchett and the charming Shia LeBeouf to the cast makes it even more alluring.

Of course, the above selections are in no way all the summer of 2008 has to offer. Huge name films like Iron Man , Speed Racer , Kung Fu Panda , Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian , Hellboy II , The Incredible Hulk , and more, wait eagerly for the audiences that will surely fill the theaters to see them. All in all, this summer is stacking up what promises to be several fun nights out at the movies.
