There's a heat wave coming this fall, with most of the primetime new series dripping in steamy stars. But there's hot and then there is Megan Fox thermonuclear.

Of course, beauty doesn't always bring in the viewers. Mischa Barton, Elle McPherson and Sara Paxton, all potential top-10 fall hotties, didn't even get a shot on the list after the Ashton Kutcher-produced CW series The Beautiful Life became the first 2009 fall show canceled.

But it never hurts to bring on the babes when you need a little something-something to spice up a series. And what better way to rate them than on the Megan scale?

10. Nina Dobrev, Vampire Diaries: Ah, how she has grown. Still, the star of the popular Canadian teen series Degrassi: The Next Generation, hasn't yet hit her stride but she's coming on strong. How can you go wrong with a girl who is now the object of desire by not one but two vampires in the CW's fast-rising series Vampire Diaries?

9. Jamie Lee Kirchner, Mercy: Jamie's had some guest starring roles in Rescue Me, CSI and Dollhouse, but this regular gig might raise her profile as one hot tamale. As nurse Sonia, the boys just can't help but hope for a little TLC from this angel of Mercy. Sonia wants to trade up, and while she still prefers the bad boys, she's wants to cash in on her natural assets to bump up the socio-economic ladder.

8. Stephanie Jacobsen, Melrose Place: Stephanie has been a poster girl for the nerd herd in her sci fi roles on Farscape, Battlestar Galactica: Razor and Derek's girlfriend on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. As Lauren on this pot bubbling mess o' sex, she's a talented medical student who discovers daddy can't pay her bills any more. So what's a girl to do but exchange sexual favors for tuition money? When you are this hot, apparently you just don't want to get all greasy flipping burgers when you can turn tricks.

7. Katie Cassidy, Melrose Place: Both dad David and uncle Shaun were pin-up boys, and the gene pool didn't fail Katie, who ditched her brown Harper's Island locks for the blond California dream. And don't forget her turn on Supernatural as Ruby. Her MP character Ella is an equal opportunity mattress bouncer, crossing the street to go any direction that suits her.

6. Courtney Cox, Cougar Town: One of our prettiest Friends is now a cougar? Well, Courtney did wed David Arquette, seven years her junior, and he doesn't seem to be complaining. Courtney's a realtor trying to jump back into the dating pond, but she seems to be dipping into the kiddie pool. Junior high boys are drooling over her hot for sale signs, and she's playing skin games with guys not much older than her teen son.

5. Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife: George Clooney couldn't keep his hands off of her, or at least her character Carol when the smokin' couple hooked up on ER. Julianna has lost none of her sex appeal over the years, and she's a stunner in this series about a woman whose high-profile hubby was caught sucking the toes of some hooker. What was he thinking? We're thinking some people just don't know when they've got it good.

4. Rebecca Romijin, Eastwick: Rebecca's beauty made her a supermodel, and she's still got the goods. She proved she had some acting moves as Daniel's transsexual sibling on Ugly Betty. As a sultry artist with a much-younger lover and woman on the verge of a dance with a handsome devil, she's bringing the heat to witchy world of Eastwick.

3. Jenna Elfman, Accidentally on Purpose: Jenna charmed viewers as the hippie-dippy wife on Dharma & Greg, then sort of faded out of view after a series of unremarkable feature films. She's back as the crazy newspaper movie critic who gets preggers after a one-night stand with a younger guy. Even eye candy can get you fat. Jenna's one of those actresses who is actually even more beautiful in person than on the screen.

2. Anastasia Griffths, Trauma: She captured attention as Katie Connor on Damages, and she's the sister of Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber. The Paris-born British beauty plays Naughty Nancy on Trauma, and is one of the best things about the new NBC show. She's got loads of sizzle.

1. Morena Baccarin, V: Practically flawless, Morena rocked Joss Whedon's otherworldly space Western Firefly as the courtesan Inara. Now she's back in the genre as the leader of a reptilian race disguised as fetching human-like aliens. A natural beauty, but perhaps lacks the wicked quality of Fox.
