Trajectory of the career of Crispin "Hellion" Glover:

1) plays "Space Cadet" in an episode of Hill Street Blues, 1983
2) "I am your density!" George McFly, Back to the Future, 1985
3) sees dead people, River's Edge, 1986
4) dances with rats, Willard, 2003
5) blows minds at festivals worldwide with What Is It?, an unclassifiable work of cinematic artistry, today

I've been hearing about What Is It? for a while now, since it debuted at Sundance in 2005, and now, finally, I've got a chance to see it. Glover is bringing the film -- along with some of his other oddities -- to the IFC Center in New York's Greenwich Village this weekend, and I've got my ticket. Glover calls the film "the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe and how to get home, as tormented by a hubristic racist inner psyche." Its cast is largely comprised of actors with Down's syndrome, and Glover also appears in the film as the "Dueling Demi-God Auteur," and, of course, "The Young Man's Inner Psyche."

Oh, and we'll also get a glimpse at the sequel -- this is part of a trilogy, because that's where the money is, I guess: It is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE!

Freakin' weird. If you don't hear from me again, it'll be because I blew out my synapses Saturday night. But it'll be a fun way to go, I suspect.

More info and, oh my, images at Glover's Web site.
