Parents, this one could be the season's easy kid-distractor you're going to want when the rum-spiked nog is being poured in the other room.

It's Christmas time once again and Scott Calvin (Tim Allen, natch) juggles a full house of family and the mischievous Jack Frost (Martin Short), who's trying to take over the big guy's holiday. At the risk of giving away the secret location of the North Pole, Scott invites his in-laws to share in the holiday festivities and the upcoming birth of baby Claus with expectant wife Carol. Along for the trip north are Scott's extended family -- his son Charlie, his ex-wife Laura Miller, her husband Neil, and their daughter Lucy who, together with head elf Curtis, foil Jack Frost's crafty scheme to control the North Pole. With Elizabeth Mitchell, Eric Lloyd, Judge Reinhold, Wendy Crewson, Ann-Margret, Alan Arkin, Kevin Pollak (as, yep, Cupid), and Michael Dorn (without the Klingon forehead) and the late Peter Boyle.

Disney knows how to pack its DVDs with exceptional transfers and plenty of extras. This one's no exception, and it's available in standard DVD and Blu-ray Disc. You get two viewing options for the film -- a "family-friendly" widescreen (1.78:1 anamorphic) version and a full-screen 1.33:1 version. Audio comes in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround.

Extras include a spirited audio commentary with director Michael Lembeck, a three-minute blooper reel, an alternate opening sequence, "Jack Frost and Mrs. Claus" about designing the look of each character, "The New Comedians: On the Set with Tim and Marty," "Creating Movie Magic" about the special effects, "Christmas Carol-oke" with seven traditional Christmas carols presented karaoke-style, a music video, and trailers.
