Music on TV: Watching Some Good Friends Screaming 'Let Me Out'

Film.com

Aaron Sorkin's new series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip makes good on its promise to hold a mirror up to TV, complete with a Howard Beale moment from Paddy Chayefsky's Network in the intro (and of course Chayefsky comes up in Sorkin's dialogue). The show, a behind-the-scenes look at a Saturday Night Live-like sketch comedy, has smartly written dialogue that you only wish you'd said. Basically it's a great combination of Sorkin's previous TV creations, with the behind-the-curtain mayhem of Sports Night and the cinematography and social conscience of The West Wing.

And if that weren't enough, they adeptly used "Under Pressure" (Queen/David Bowie) to end the show, which works to sell me on nearly anything. Damn them ... they seem to know my weakness!

Missed it? Watch last night's pilot in its entirety. Or, watch a 2-minute recap. (NBC)
