Martin to Get More Law & Order; Sisto In, Govich Out
NBC
The Law & Order casting machine is working overtime these past few weeks, following an eleventh hour renewal that brought the show back for an 18th season this fall. Following weeks of speculation, Jesse L. Martin has agreed to return for at least 13 episodes of the long-running procedural drama as Detective Ed Green, after he and executive producer Dick Wolf were able to work out a compromise. It's entirely possible that Martin will stay on the series, which he has appeared on since 1999, for longer than the initial 13-episode clause in his renewal deal. The move comes as L&O jettisons several of its actors, including Milena Govich, who will not be returning for a second season as Detective Nina Cassady; the producers have instead hired Jeremy Sisto (late of Kidnapped and Waitress) to play a detective on the series. Additionally, Fred Thompson has left the series as part of a purported presidential bid. His role of district attorney will be taken over by Law & Order veteran Sam Waterston. * * * Jace is an LA-based television development and acquisitions exec who watches way too much television for his own good and would love a TiVo for every room in the house.
