It's October, which means the last of the summertime original cable series are wrapping up. Mad Men's season finale is this Thursday, so if you've been lured away by new fall shows, now would be a good time to go back. If you've been watching all along and are dreading the end of the season, don't fret, because AMC has announced that they will bring the series back for a second season.

Last week, Rotten Pete (that's his name at my house -- I am incapable of referring to him any other way) stole Don's package from his brother, and attempted to blackmail him with the contents. See? Rotten! He got a big comeuppance from Cooper when Don called his bluff. I have really been enjoying the dialogue between Peggy and Pete in the past couple episodes; she's got his number now, and she's not afraid to let him know it.

I kind of hated Vincent Kartheiser on Angel. His character was kind of a bad idea, to begin with, and I found him creepy (in a bad way). On Mad Men, he brings the creepy in a good way. He's just perfect to play weaselly (Rotten) Pete with just the right baby-faced malice. I think he's one of the breakout stars of the series.

The other breakout is January Jones, who was disappointingly absent last week. It looks like she will be having a serious discussion (if not a real confrontation) with Don next week, after making a "startling discovery." Also next week, Peggy's career will continue to flourish at the expense of her popularity. AMC's preview doesn't give us too much information about many of the other characters, but I'm hoping we get a little Roger closure.

I'm thrilled that Mad Men was picked up for another season, and I hope there are many more to come. Can you imagine how great it would be if this show ran for several seasons? I would love to get a look at the entire decade of the '60s through the lens of the Sterling Cooper offices.

Amy Kane spends as much quality time with her television as possible, when she's not busy at her day job as a cube dweller.
