Hello, boys and girls. Once again it's time we take a peek at everyone's favorite part of going to the movies: coming attractions! Charlie Wilson's War My favorite overused term in the past year or so is "blowback." It refers to the unintended consequences of a military action or foreign policy. We're all very familiar with the blowback derived from the U.S.'s involvement in assisting bin Laden in Afghanistan. Charlie Wilson's War seems to focus on the wacky fun it took to get us there with Tom Hanks playing the title character, a Texas congressman who ended up launching a covert war against the Soviets. The film certainly has the potential to delve into some politically fervid territory but for the most part this movie looks like a surprisingly fun ride. The oddest thing about this trailer is how happy it made me feel. Maybe it was just Amy Adams in a Jacuzzi, but this movie looks fun, fun, fun. It has the potential to pack a real punch while delivering some lighthearted zingers along the way. In other words, it looks like a job for director Mike Nichols who knows how to balance drama and comedy as good as anyone. On a side note, it might be time to put Julia Roberts out to pasture. I'm not going to elaborate, I'm just saying. Hanks looks like he's going to rock this role. He may not get a nomination, but he's going to have a good 'ol time here. I also love Philip Seymour Hoffman's look in this thing (he has the best line in the trailer). I guess what I'm really trying to say is this movie looks good and at this point I'm just hoping it's great. Watch the trailer here. Juno Here's my take: Ellen Page might be the next Natalie Portman. I don't think George Lucas has any Star Wars movies planned, so she already has a nice head start and Juno will be better than Where The Heart Is. Portman is always at her best when she gets a little dirty with the personality and let's the quirk come out, and Page might be an even better actor at it. She's got something few actresses her age work hard to achieve: real screen presence. The trailer isn't very successful in marketing to the masses, but a teen pregnancy picture isn't exactly Transformers. You have to kind of give the audience a taste of what the tone will be like, shoot across some sharp dialogue and hope for the best, I guess. I'm pretty sure nobody will see this (unless it racks up a couple of nominations), but I will. Watch the trailer here.
