Let Tara Reid Scare the Halloween Off You With Incubus
Film.com
AOL Red -- AOL's attempt to be hip with the MySpace kids -- wants you to stay home tonight. Well, they say they want "you" to stay home tonight, though perhaps they only want the kids to stay home. Whatever: the point is, for the first time ever, AOL believes it can keep teenagers hunched over their computers on Halloween night by offering a download of a brand new Tara Reid movie. I have to confess that there's not much scarier than Tara Reid, so maybe this stunt will actually work. The flick is called Incubus, and it goes something like this:
In 1995 the CIA suddenly abandoned its 20-year research into paranormal phenomena including mind control, out of body experience and lucid dreaming. The results of the study are still classified. The trailer, which you can view on the movie's official site, makes it look like a lot of running around with a few halfhearted scares thrown in. Apparently, "it," whatever "it" is, "gets into your head," but I find it hard to believe that anything could be in Tara Reid's head. It's not free, of course: you can "rent" the download for 5 days for $3.49, or purchase it outright for $7.99. Maybe the scariest thing about Incubus -- aside from the whole Tara Reid thing -- is wondering what kind of malware the download will secretly place on your computer: just the limited licensing info on the page where you sign up to download sounds suspiciously like the horrifying Amazon Unbox rules and reg. Best just to go trick or treating, maybe ....
