Head to Head: Pitt vs. Damon

C. Robert Cargill

Once again, it's a weekend battle of head to head stars. In this corner, we have the golden haired pretty boy Brad Pitt, star of the Part 3 sequel of the week, Ocean's Thirteen. And in this corner we have golden haired pretty boy Matt Damon, also of the Part 3 sequel of the week, Ocean's Thirteen. Let's drop the cage. Two men enter! One man leaves!

In the box office this weekend: Winner - Tie. Although I do have a feeling Brad's paycheck might be a little bigger.

In the critical arena: Winner - Neither. Early word on this one isn't good and they've been keeping critics in certain markets from seeing it due to negative early feedback. Add to that the general mood of many critics who are ready to declare anything with a 3 anywhere in its title to be terrible and the negative critical reaction to the previous Ocean's film, Ocean's Twelve, and you get a picture that says the critics are probably beginning to pen their barbs already. Expect the terms bloated and empty to be used simultaneously - whether the movie's any good or not.

In their careers: Winner - Pitt. The guy can't bend over and pick up a pencil without the press covering it and the tonight show making fun of him and Angelina for it. If he's in a movie, it's huge news and the entertainment/photo blogs cover every red carpet event he so much as drives past on the press tour. Damon, on the other hand, is the star of two high profile movies this summer and nobody's seemed to notice. But both are great actors, get pretty much any role they want, and really, Damon probably gets the better end of the stick because he gets some privacy. QUICK! Name name Matt Damon's wife! If you know, you should consider yourself in the top 1% of gossip hounds.

In a fight: Winner - Damon. You know, I want to say Pitt, because he's cut like stone and has some boxing training. But Damon is in the Jason Bourne movies, and the sheer amount of combat training that dude's had scares the crap out of me. I've gotta put my money on the Mattster.

Winner - Pitt. Another nailbiter this week, but really, ask yourself. If you could be Matt Damon or Brad Pitt, who would you be? Yeah. me too.
