Five Vampires I Wouldn't Mind Hanging Out With

Not that he's Count Dracula or anything, but Dre does count down the top five vampires he'd like to hang out with.

As I'm prepping for the release of 30 Days of Night, I thought I'd look at some of cinema's best vampires, particularly the ones I wouldn't mind hanging out with. Here are the five I considered.

1.) Wesley Snipes in Blade
Talk about a guy you want having your back. I would get into any club I wanted to with Blade. Oh, I'm not on the list? Yeah, well my friend is and his name is "Sword In You Groin" if you don't let us in. Man that would rock.

2.) Tom Cruise in Interview With a Vampire
Lestat can be a real pain in the ass, but he's a good man to have in your corner as a kind of consigliere. The guy's been around (since 1758, actually) and has some nice connections. He's a rocker so you know the dude likes to party. And as cool as Blade is, the guy has no personality and would add nothing in the way of conversation. He's just muscle and snappy one-liners. Lestat can be a little obsessive though, so I'd only hang out with him in small doses. Still, he's good for a couple of laughs unlike the dull Louis (Brad Pitt). That guy was just gloomy for gloomy's sake.

3.) Salma Hayek in From Dusk Till Dawn
I'm not sure I need to explain myself here. If I were able to show people Salma Hayek is my "friend," do you know the kind of cred I'd be establishing? Aside from that, it'd be nice to have Salma Hayek acknowledge me, even if it was to sink her teeth into my neck. Maybe especially because of that.

4.) Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker's Dracula
I always understood where this guy was coming from. Winona Ryder is a babe so I can see damning your soul for the off chance you meet her incarnated spirit in another hundred years. But what would really be cool about hanging out with the guy are the things I'd say to him to mess with his mind. I'd have conversations with him where I'd say, "Dude, you know who I would totally cross oceans of time for? Halle Berry." He'll come back shaking his head and saying, "No, Winona." And then I'd come back and tell him, "Dude, Halle Berry over Winona any day of the week". You know, just to get a rise out of him.

5.) Jim Carrey in Once Bitten
I saw this movie when I was a wee lad in a double feature with Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins. How's that for taking it back? The great thing about hanging out with Carrey is you need someone around who makes you laugh. I can overlook things like having to suck blood to live. It's an addiction, I get it and I'm not going to drop somebody like a bad habit because, well, they have a bad habit. Laughter goes a long way.
