Five Reasons We Love Renee Zellweger

Though it's become kind of fashionable to disregard this Texan actress, we think she's quite talented.

I run in a crowd that swiftly flattens the notion that Renee Zellweger is a legitimate and fun actress to watch. I have my suspicions that this is because of how she looks or because of the movies she chooses. All details I would whole-heartedly argue against, but due to my better judgment, I just listen to the swaggering attitudes and take them with a grain of salt. Personally, Renee is not my favorite actress in the entire world, but I would never accuse her of lacking in talent. You’ve got to hand it to the gal, she’s got a knack for doing her job pretty well, which is why I have been a bit surprised by lackluster buzz for her latest flick Leatherheads.

In an attempt to simply inform, not persuade, here are my five reasons why I’ll always enjoy Renee Zellweger:

1.) Versatility and Variety
Renee Zellweger has an incredible array of films under belt. She’s got all the genres covered: comedy (Me, Myself, and Irene, Bridget Jones's Diary), intense drama (Cold Mountain, Cinderella Man), musical (Chicago, Down With Love), period piece (Miss Potter), animation (Bee Movie, Shark Tale), and the list really could go on and on. The details that makes this list of movies so wonderful is how many of them were not only award winners, but simply good movies. I mean, the character Bridget Jones is a staple to our generation and Chicago seemed to truly mark the return of the musical film. Renee’s got variety in the bag.

2.) Gain 50 Pounds? Sure!
While it’s a little intense the amount of weight she has gained and lost in the public eye, I think it is rather commendable. There are so many people out there just trying to lose ten pounds, this woman is losing the pounds like it’s going out of style. How nice to know you have that kind of will power. Here’s to trying…

3.) Cold Mountain
Honestly, I love Renee because of this film. Her role as Ruby Thewes was something I had never seen her do before, or anyone for that matter. Her performance was moving and surprising all at once. I was blown away by her entire delivery of this role and this film wouldn’t have been the same without her. You know, she did win an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for this film, which leads me to my next point...

4.) Award Caliber
She has become an award-winning kind of actress. You can safely bet that when a drama advertises "starring Renee Zellweger" that you’re going to get something amazing. Not only has she acquired the most reputable of awards, a Golden Globe and an Oscar, but she has won several Critic’s Choices Awards and People’s Choice Awards. She’s an actress of the people and she is distinguished.

5.) Fashion Sense
Renee is so cute and petite that everything looks good on her. Everything I've seen her wearing in the Leatherheads trailer is adorable; she has a great 1920s look. She also manages to have an acute sense of her own style outside of the movies. Whether that style is a haircut, a gown, or her jewelry, she seems to constantly pull off everything: short hair or long hair, elegant dress or casual dress, sandals or boots. Renee may not be a fashion icon, but she’s got a sharp approach to her own style and we love it!
