I was excited to learn that Evel Dick from Big Brother 8 was going to re-enter the house and host the Power of Veto competition this week.  I even told a lot of people to be watching Friday morning because I assumed that we would at the very least get to see Dick waking the house guests up before the Power of Veto competition began.

Should I be surprised that I was wrong?  The producers apparently decided that Dick's entrance was much too valuable a piece of video so the live feeds cut to trivia before he was seen.

Those like myself that have been watching the live feeds since they were free on Season One know that the live feeds have been increasingly more and more censored.

Some things have gone away for logical, legal reasons (singing - copyright issues, mentioning names of people that have not signed releases - legal reasons) but then there are the things that have been taken away from us for what I consider bad reasons.

Up until a couple season's ago, we got to watch every food competition, we got to see the inner workings of how the producers worked with the HGs to put together a 5 minute segment over the course of a couple hours.  For a couple seasons we didn't see any food competition, however to the producer's credit we did get to see one food competition so far this season.

I can only assume that the producers feel like if they allow the live feed viewers to see some of these things it will hurt the viewer ship when the show airs because we have already seen the competition.

I have to disagree 100% with that line of thinking.  Most of us that watch the feeds watch the show for completely different reasons.  I will know long before Tuesday's show who won the POV - I will also know more about what Dick said/did than ever makes it to air.  I watch the show to see how the producers weave a story to create their version of "reality."

I don't know what portion of the TV viewers watch the live feeds but I know it is a small portion.  To me CBS and the Producers would create more "hype" about Dick being on the show if we got to see him at least walk in the house banging pots - we all knew he was going to do that - why not show us that much before you cut the feeds away?  Is it really worth it?  I don't think so.

I know it isn't going to change and perhaps the producers have statistics that show more people watch if they are restrictive on the live feeds - but I really doubt it.
