Sweet music, innocent youth, and the great outdoors, Deliverance (1972) had it all. This simple canoe trip started off so well; who would possibly think there'd be something evil in the air (not Ned Beatty apparently). The banjo-playing boy in this clip was played by 16 year-old Billy Redden, apparently still kicking out the jams in Clayton, Georgia. You can also catch him as "Banjo Man" in Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003).
Director: John Boorman
Stars: Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty
Memorable Quote: "He's got a real pretty mouth on him, don't he?"
I wouldn't of thought of this clip without seeing it on Velociman's blog. Thanks V!
Tomorrow's classic clip? Another summer vacation gone horribly wrong, unless you have a better idea.

Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror." This 1922 classic of cinema based on Bram Stoker's "Dracula" (but with names changed) directed by F.W. Murnau and starring Max Schrek in one of films most famous and frightening make-up jobs.
