A creative Halloween costume can live in infamy among your group of friends. If you're not going to go with a classic character, it's crucial to come up with something recognizable, timely and clever. Allow me to zip through US Weekly magazine and give you some direction. After all, this could end up being your Facebook profile picture for some time ... better make it good!

Lady Gaga
Equal parts outlandish and hilarious, Lady Gaga makes a perfect Halloween costume this year. She's worn so many ridiculous outfits in the past six months that it may actually be hard to choose just one to take inspiration from. I would recommend seeking inspiration from her performance of "Paparazzi" at the MTV VMAs this year: Wear a ridiculous white dress paired with some red hosiery over your face.

Jon & Kate
This costume idea may be a little hard to pull off, but being half Jon Gosselin and half Kate Gosselin is hilarious. All you need are a perfect blonde mullet wig, an Ed Hardy-esque t-shirt, Mom capris and sneakers. Fighting with yourself is a great way to expand your acting skills. Extra points if you can get eight friends to dress similarly and be your brood, or figure out a way to attack baby dolls to your pants for an authentic ankle-biting look.

Madonna
Madonna is always a great stand-by Halloween costume. This year, she gave us new inspiration, from rocking Louis Vuitton bunny ears to her clever leotards for her Sticky and Sweet tour. You could either commit to one Madonna look, like her classic "Like a Virgin" dress and gloves, or mix and mash them into one fabulous acid-washed, gloved, blonde costume. Or you could go as Mama Madonna and bring along a brood of multi-racial children, a la Brangelina.

The Olsen Twins
My love for the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and their unique sense of style is well-documented, and there is no better time to show my appreciation than at Halloween. The trick is to wear clothes that are 3-4 sizes too big for you so you appear elfin, carry a Venti Starbucks cup, and wear giant sunglasses. Actually, come to think of it, you could also pass as Rachel Zoe!

Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson, may he rest in peace, is a perfect source of inspiration this Halloween. Think of the possibilities! You could go as zombie Michael Jackson, a la "Thriller," and moonwalk everywhere. You could also recruit some friends and go as the Jackson 5, but you are pretty much required to choreograph a few dance routines, and you need to have a Joe Jackson character ordering everyone around and threatening with the belt.
