Brian Hart Talks
CBS
Hey y'all. I recently got the opportunity to talk to Brian Hart, the first houseguest evicted from Big Brother 10. He was a blast to talk to. I asked a few questions, but mostly we just chatted. I asked him his first impressions of some of the houseguests, and his response was: Dan was very loyal and trustworthy. He knew Dan had a lot to lose with regards to his job, his relationship, so he knew that if Dan gave his word that he'd keep it. Jerry was a military man, an old guy too set in his ways, and that kind of concerned him. Angie scared him from the very beginning. He considered her the smartest female in the house. She's very guarded and doesn't give out more information than she wants you to know. He'd try to engage her in conversation about her personal life and she'd tell him that they'd talk at the wrap party or when it was all over. Keesha didn't really bother or concern him. If she keeps her mouth shut, she could go a long way. Ollie was trusted at first. Brian didn't think that Ollie would get turned by April so quickly. He didn't think he'd fall for the boobs and that he'd stick with the guys. Renny is just crazy. He'd love to hang out with her in New Orleans in the French Quarter, but living with her 24 hours a day, she's over the top ... just too much. Libra is referred to as "Big Mama." He always knew she'd be a problem. She got very emotional when Renny was put on the block and he talked her down, which he considers a big mistake now. He thinks that she wasn't mad at him for supposedly betraying others in the house, she was just mad that she was not in control. Memphis is a big threat. He's charismatic and very intelligent. Down the line, those left in the house will regret not taking this last opportunity to get him out of the house. Brian really likes Memphis, hung out with him in the house and plans on hanging out after, but he realized that Memphis was a threat to his winning. It might have been too early for a power play, but he saw how smart and strong Memphis was and that he seemed to get along with everyone, and didn't know when he'd have another opportunity. Others don't see Memphis as a threat yet. Jessie is just too into himself. He's 22 and a kid. He's got no real loyalty and will shift with the power in the house. He'll do whatever Memphis tells him to do. Then I asked Brian if he had any inkling of the Memphis/Jesse/Michelle/Angie alliance and he said that he did not. He knew about Memphis and Jessie, and he thought there was something between Memphis and Angie. Michelle, he said, would go with whatever boy paid her the most attention (ouch!). He thought that Angie was too smart to get mixed up with Jessie. He thinks that Jessie's vanity will become an issue in the alliance. We talked a little about the Libra/April/Ollie alliance. He thinks that, although leadership is shared between April and Libra, Libra is really the head. He thinks April can just get mad and mean, but Libra is craftier and can get nastier. He told me that he thinks the alliance was formed about midway through the first slop period. Both April and Libra were on slop and he said that those are two cranky females (my word) when they don't eat. Libra was in the bathroom crying on day two. Their shared misery brought them together. That was about the time he started smoking again, after a very long period of abstinence, and began hanging with Steven and Angie. He noticed Ollie hanging with April and Libra, but thought that Ollie still had control of April. He was very vocal about his relationship with Angie and Steven. He said that they just like to have fun. They would just laugh for hours. Those of us with the feeds can corroborate that one. He was saying they'd have so much fun at night and that they'd laugh all the time, but that others might not find them funny. Michelle, however, was the joke killer. They could all be in the room laughing for over fifteen minutes and Michelle would walk in, deliver a one-liner and totally destroy the mood. She is just not funny. He told me that all of the activities they did that first week -- the puppet show, the races, etc. -- were all thought up by him, Angie, and Steven as they laughed in the back yard. I told him about Steven and the plan to backdoor Libra and he wasn't surprised. He said that she's doing everything she accused him of doing. Her arrogance in walking around like Big Mama will be her downfall. She got cocky. The house sees that they may have traded one dictator for another. At least his plan, he said, would have benefited whomever was in the final four because Memphis wouldn't have been there. Once they realize the Memphis threat, they may not have another chance to get him out and they'll be screwed. We talked about their late-night antics and he was very animated. He said that those with the feeds and those that watched Big Brother After Dark saw the real him. He went out laughing. It was always just a game to him. He said once he got out and started watching, he saw that they'd gotten so serious. They're taking things so personal. Even the things they've said about him after he left were just so personal. I wondered aloud about possible Brian and Libra conversations and he told me something that surprised me. He said that they'd had some very good conversations at the beginning and she approached him with a possible alliance. She approached him about a Black girl/White guy alliance like in Season 3 that took them far, but since he hadn't seen Season 3 he didn't know exactly what she was talking about. I told him about the Dani/Jason alliance and how it took them to second and third place. He said that he was interested until she got so emotional over the nomination of the most obnoxious person in the house -- Renny. Then he got worried about taking her with him. He was worried about people being on the jury that were too moral. He knew that he'd have to stab people in the back and perhaps do things that other people wouldn't approve of: he said that was the game. So he wanted to stack the jury with people that respected good game play and didn't make moral judgments of whoever was at the end. Libra rationalized targeting him by making the moral play. She said that he was dishonest, that he betrayed them, yada yada ... That's what made him really want her out. He knew that Libra was really the only other alpha personality type in the house, other than Jessie, who he discounted because of the vanity thing. An alliance between the two of them would be very volatile and they'd bump heads regularly. I was curious about how Steven came out to the house. Brian said it was no big deal. He knew the first day and then he, Steven, and Libra talked about it. Steven didn't want to make a big thing out of it -- just let the house find out as they will. For some reason Dan and Angie found out after the rest of the house. Brian thinks Dan is so unlike his pre-show interview. He doesn't think he's sexist or a bigot. Dan and Steven are friends and Dan was a little upset that he was the last to know about Steven. He thought it was because he was Catholic. It was just that Dan wasn't around when it was discussed. No big deal. I asked about Ollie, because of his pre-show comments, and Brian said that Ollie didn't care. Ollie couldn't focus on anything except the boobs. Actually Ollie is chill and relaxed. He just latched onto April and actually thinks that she really likes him. Brian was really disappointed in Ollie. They'd had discussions earlier about where Ollie's head was at. He wanted to make sure that April hadn't turned his head away from the prize. Ollie reassured him that he was there for the money and not the girl. Then Brian was blown away when he saw on the show that Ollie said that his "relationship" with April was more important than his word to Brian. I asked Brian how he thought Dan would do in the house. He said that it depended on how smart the others were. If they were smart, they'd see that Dan is the one person in the house that they'd be able to trust 100 perecent. He talked to Memphis, Angie, Steven, and Jessie before he left to make them realize that Dan would be an asset. Someone needs to pick up Dan for an alliance. He told Angie, Dan, Steven, and Keesha that they needed to band together immediately after he left, pick up Renny and challenge the other crew. It might be 6-5, but they may have gotten someone else, like Michelle, to flip. Even though they may have had the smaller number, they could have said you may get one of us this week, but next week, we'll get the power and two of you will be on the block. He thinks that if they'd have done that, it might have changed the atmosphere in the house and broken up that big alliance sooner. Finally, we talked about his eviction and he said that if they'd have gotten one more promise of a vote, then it would have come out differently. He said that then it would have been on, and he just might have stayed. He was in the house to play a game and he just wanted to enjoy it. He had so much fun playing in the backyard. He doesn't know how many times he was told by Big Brother to cut it out. I thanked him for his time, and he thanked everyone for their support. He said that if we really wanted to see something funny, to make sure we were watching early mornings for wake-up, if we could. He said that Steven really hates to be woken up and he makes it difficult. Steven has cussed Big Brother at least three times. Something to look forward to, for at least another couple of days. I really enjoyed this interview. He's very easy to talk to. He plans to catch up on what he's missed after his last batch of interviews and hopes to blog somewhere for the rest of the season. I'll be keeping an eye out for that Comment below. Catch y'all later here at Film.com/bigbrother. Got a question? Ask Big Brother Here. Your question may be read on the air on CBS's Housecalls!
