Something tells me Spider-Man 3 will be a movie of note this weekend. Using exhaustive research and a keen sense of the whims of movie audiences, I've deduced that many millions of people will see the film this weekend. What's that sound? It's summer! Huzzah and mazel tov, our long, awful winter is over.

5. Hot Fuzz $6.5m
Hey, Hot Fuzz, it's nice to see you crack the top five. Sure, only a few hundred thousand people will see you, but money is money. For all those who want to see more Edgar Wright, this is a heartening happening.

4. The Invisible $4.6m
These are films that have been left to die, victims of poor quality and awful release dates. I don't think we owe them much thought. Or print.

3. Disturbia $5.4m
This, on the other hand, seems to be of decent quality, and it made a fortune for its budget. I give Disturbia my April MVP. The execs here had one of the few good plans this year (along with 300). I don't count Norbit or Ghost Rider as winners because they didn't do a brilliant job, they just played to low public expectations.

2. Lucky You $12.6m
This will only make money off of overflow. Drew Barrymore needs to try a serious role out; the romantic comedies are getting a little stale.

1. Spider-Man 3 $142.4m
Well, it's finally here, and I like it to break the opening weekend record. The prediction isn't based so much on the quality of the film -- it's only at 45 percent with Rotten Tomatoes Cream of the Crop critics -- but rather the hunger of the general public. Everyone has seen one or two good movies in four months. They're going to besiege this one in a big way. I fully expect box-office calamity. You heard it here first.
