Movies This Weekend That Might Interest You
See The Wrestler or Slumdog Millionaire. Those are worthy films. And if you live in N.Y. or L.A. and have access to Revolutionary Road maybe see that one with a friend. It's a stirring commentary on relationships in general, Leo and Kate give world-class performances, and it's a natural sequel to a film like American Beauty.

Press Releases of Note
The press is mercifully off right now. But it looks as though the Watchmen rights are now owned by Fox (gulp). That's going to go great. Perhaps The WB could offer them Bugs Bunny rights in exchange?

Sequel Rumor of the Day
It's not a rumor, and it's seemingly the death of a franchise, but it looks like we're through with Disney's Narnia world. Will another studio pick it up? Hopefully whoever does it will make a decent movie (just to be different).

Quote of the Day
"But it's Christmas, I can't complain." - My dad, right before launching into a 25-minute complaint on the year that was 2008.

What I Watched Last Night Besides a Movie
Brewster's Millions. Then Alvin and the Chipmunks. One I fondly remembered, the other could have been waaaaay worse. Alvin was top-notch! Thus ends my foray into chipmunk-related kudos.

What I'm Reading Right Now
A great book called Anathem by Neal Stephenson. It's a strange one, steeped in mythology and fantasy, but it's also solid reading. It's sort of like Lord of the Rings meets Dead Poets Society. Plus it's like 1000 pages, so you're getting your $20 worth.

Deep Thought of the Day
Do I hit up the after-Christmas sales? Are those even a real thing? I feel like it's another marketing trick. And I've fallen prey to far too many of those already. As it turns out I didn't need that instant egg maker. Eggs already cook really quickly, even without something that costs $19.95 to speed them along. Live and learn.

Videos For You
When Rufus Wainwright meets The O.C. only good things can happen. One of the underrated shows of the decade.
