Movies This Weekend That Might Interest You
Only Monsters vs. Aliens. Nothing else is Big Hitter-approved, even though I'm impressed John Cena is going 12 Rounds. That's, like, 11 more than I would go.

Press Releases of Note
Bill Hader was on Bill Simmons' podcast today and he mentioned the final four hosts of the SNL season are: Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Justin Timberlake, and Will Ferrell. You've got to like the fact that JT is coming back, he's always dynamite. It will also be interesting to see if Efron is funny as I don't frequent the High School Musical fare.

From our pals at The Weinstein Company:
"Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway is attached to star as iconic performer Judy Garland in the film and stage adaptations of Gerald Clarke's biography Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland, for which The Weinstein Company (TWC) has optioned the film and stage rights."

Hmmm. Anny Hathaway. Sounds fine. As Paul Simon once said, "I have no opinion about that ... we'll just have to wait and confer."

Next up, a trailer for Where the Wild Things Are has been released.

In Summit Entertainment news a one-sheet for Astro Boy has been released. MTV has it right about here.

Angels & DemonsLastly, The Vatican is going to call for a boycott of Angels & Demons. No surprise there. I just wish they could help us out on Confessions of a Shopaholic. Technically the whole premise is a venal sin, right? Zing! Catholic jokes!

Sequel/Remake Rumor of the Day
From the Production Weekly Twitter: "Farrelly Bros. casting The Three Stooges, with Sean Penn as Larry, Jim Carrey as Curly, and Benicio Del Toro as Moe."

I won't say this is the worst idea ever (yet), but I will say it's the worst idea I've heard this week. I feel the same way about dipping back into the Three Stooges oeuvre that I do about Babel. I just shake my head and say, "Why? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?"

Quote of the Day
I was finishing dinner at a restaurant last night. The waitress asked, "You want a box for that?" I said, "No, but I'll wrestle you for it." - John Mayer

What I Watched Last Night Besides a Movie
Chuck is taking it to another level right now. Gotta be the first time a Predator Drone was used in a comedy, right? Also enjoyed 30 Rock (Kenneth's relapse into his downhome accent is just fantastic) and Celebrity Apprentice. My wife and I may be the last people on Earth watching this show ... but there's something dynamic about Rodman's meltdown combined with Joan's joker face. As opposed to Annie Duke's poker face. Wow, a second zing for the column. This is getting very real.

What I'm Reading Right Now
On the flight home from Vegas I read a Dale Brown book. It was just terrible. Is he just cutting and pasting these days? Regardless, it was a quick and distracting read ... which is more than I can say for the books I've written. So yeah, kudos to Dale!

Deep Thought of the Day
Did you hear Film.com is going online only? Yep. Finally time to shutter that print edition. Thankfully, we're keeping the exact same staff on. So you needn't be worried about us.

Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Daughters of the Dust." A film that portrays the unique culture of the Gullah people by focusing on the extended Peazant family as its members struggle with the decision to leave their island and move north. On the eve of their departure, memories of their Gullah history and its African roots come rising to the surface. Winner of Cinematography at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival.
