What I'm Seeing This Week
This morning I get to take in a re-release of The Godfather at The Cinerama. Then it's Rachel Getting Married in the afternoon. Hathaway is getting nice early buzz there. My evening concludes with Body of Lies tonight. Now THAT is the kind of day I got into this business for.

What I Saw Last Week
I caught Religulous on Wednesday and thought it was well done. We're running a review from Dre Rivas on Tuesday and I largely agree with his take -- I would have given it a B too, the only knock on it being it's pretty uneven in tone at the end.

Appaloosa was Monday's screening for your Big Hitter. I think Cole H. was a little too tough on it. It was actually extremely funny throughout, which is odd for a Western. I would have given that one a B to B+ and would recommend it for non-Western fans (like me).

On Tuesday night I headed out with The Evil Beet to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua. It was (of course) an affront to all things decent and good in this world. I laughed four times, so I would have given it a D. Sasha gave it an A-, and that was only after I begged her not to sully the Film.com name. She was sitting squarely on A+ until I told her we've only given two of those in the past twelve months. The problem was that she was hopelessly biased. She has a lovely Chihuahua named Leo.

Angelina Jolie in The ChangelingPress Releases of Note
Universal released a new Changeling poster where the theme is "Jolie's Lips."
Sweeney Todd on Blu-ray will be dropping October 21.
Also coming that day: a 3-disc Incredible Hulk DVD. Yowsers.

Note: Here's last week's Podcast.

Today's Big Movie Stories on the Internets
1. Hollywood gambles a billion that you love 3-D.
2. It's a spoiler, but these are amazing Bond Girl Photos.

Best Non-Movie Story of the Week Not by Me
Eric Snider's hilarious take on the Washington Mutual debacle or the Sports Gal's rant on her one-year-old child (hint: you have to keep scrolling down until you see "Sports Gal's Rant" in gray sidebar on the right).

Deep Thought of the Week
I spent four hours of my life getting together Robert Pattinson photos for a fun Friday column. Most people were kind and took the article in the spirit it was intended (again, fun ... and Friday. And fun.) but a few mentioned they wanted more in-depth Pattinson coverage. Some of you knocked the photos I chose, though I was clearly just shooting for different hairstyles from the man. What gives, Pattinson fans? Why so serious?

We've got to crawl before we can sprint over here. The way to make someone a big star is to start silly (remember Jolie's vial of blood? Or Pitt's appearance in True Romance?) and THEN transition to calling the guy a "genius" and having Esquire pen 5,000-word puff pieces on how he's a method actor. This can work, but you've got to follow the steps. And being mean to poor lowly writers just looking to get Pattinson's name out there? Poor form, internets, poor form.

Early Box Office Take
If Chihuahua falls to $14m that means Body of Lies will only need $6k or so per theater. Spy Game opened at nearly $8k back in 2001. So DiCaprio and Russell Crowe should have enough to take the crown this weekend.

Videos For You
It was easily the best SNL of the season this weekend. Anne Hathaway rocked it, but Andy Samberg's "Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals" was the best skit of the evening. After NBC sells you an ad, I urge you to watch it.

Lastly, the hit TV show Chuck played a song a few weeks ago that I can't get out of my cabeza. I'm pleased to be enjoying "The Twist" by Frightened Rabbit.

Laremy is Film.com's Big Hitter. He also enjoys Taquitos and the pronunciation of said "Taquitos" a bit too much.
