Oscar Thought of the Day
I think four slots for Best Picture are now sewn up. I'll take Dark Knight, Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire and Milk as probables. I'd say the wildcard spot goes to Revolutionary Road, Doubt, Gran Torino or The Wrestler. I can't see anything else sneaking in at this point.

It warms my heart when the Knowles' girls get together, especially for a good cause.

Today's Movie Stories on the Internets
I love this Onion A.V. Club article, "What movie have you spent the most time arguing about?" I've spent a ton of time discussing Aronofsky's The Fountain. I can see Benjamin Button being a point of conversation soon, too. A few years ago I ranted about how terrible Babel was to anyone who would listen. And of course Twilight has taken hours of my life this year, on all sides, from everyone I know. But it's a great discussion, and one close to my heart as I essentially got into this business to argue about movies.

What I Watched Last Night Besides a Movie
Chuck, always Chuck. I'm ever faithful. I was permitted to watch it because I was in a bad mood. Otherwise, it seems to be a solitary viewing experience as the ladies don't love it.

Deep Thought of the Day
This is one crazy article: "Are you afflicted with TiVo guilt?" It's all about how people save too many programs and then feel like it's work to watch them all. But it's my contention that you can't blame a useful tool for your own organizational issues. In my household we record things all the time that we never get around to watching. I simply delete them and move on. My guess is that 95% of the world is the same way. No, my real problem is finding things worth TiVoing at all. And I wish I could hold more High Definition content. But blaming the TiVo for TV feeling like a job is akin to blaming your snow tires for never letting you feel the excitement of skidding. Silly talk.

Hmmm, I suppose this was more of a shallow reaction than a deep thought. But some injustices must not go unnoticed, and I won't stand for the good folks of TiVo having their name sullied. Boom!
