Big Brother 11: Power Corrupts

... And absolute power corrupts absolutely. Hey y'all, what is it about the Big Brother 11 Head of Household room that causes mice to become lions? Or cause the so-called nice people to become the jerks that we rail against? These past two weeks, we've seen the supposed Golden Couple begin to act like Jessie and company. Who are they really? Are they the sweet acting benign couple that has the websites all over the web drooling over them and basically planning their wedding and children, or are they the bullies that have threatened to cut anyone that goes against them? What causes the transformation from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde? These two are not the first to act like that this season. Russell had everything going for him when he won HoH, but in that week, he pretty much blew his whole game. His paranoia ran rampant. He couldn't tune out the voices in his head ... oh wait, those were the voices in the Diary Room. On top of that he had all the people currying favor planting negative seeds. The Houseguest Who Shant Be Named was actually almost normal before she occupied the power suite. She was opinionated, yes, but she wasn't totally obnoxious until she thought she had the power to remove the burr from her side. And Ronnie became intolerable when he got the power. It almost seems as if they pipe in some chemical along with the recirculated air. After being under siege for almost the entire game, I thought that when Jeff and Jordan got the power, it would be sweet. No pressure, just a fun time. They swore allegiance to Russell and Michele in a Final 4 pact, so the weeks should be mellow and the feeds fun to watch. Ha! I should have known better. When a cat has it's back against the wall, it comes out hissing and spitting. In this case, Natalie has definitely come out fighting. She started the show on a lie, and she hasn't stopped since. Her and Kevin have ramped it up to save themselves and it looks like it's worked. I knew that Jeff and Jordan weren't the sharpest crayons in the box, and they've proven that. Natalie and Kevin made up a lie about Russell and Michele, told Jeff and Jordan, and that thing has taken on a life of it's own. Jeff even spun it so that he was the one that overheard it. It's been crazy. My question is this: Why would you take the word of people that have been your enemies since day one, and have their backs against the wall, over the word of your allies? All of a sudden, after this many weeks, Natalie and Kevin have become Jeff and Jordan's besties? I laugh every time I hear Jordan say that Natalie would never lie. Natalie and Kevin have convinced them to dump their original sworn alliance, and join with them for a Final 4 alliance. What's funnier is that both Natalie and Kevin are determined to win HoH next week and put Jeff up and get him out. I'll say again that Natalie is playing a heckuva game. She should have been gone last week and she's well on her way to the final 4. If she gets to the Final 2, she'll win this thing, and she'll have deserved it. She was the brains behind Team Jessie, in fact I often called it Team Natalie. Once Jessie left, she regrouped and has become a quiet power in her own right. In less than a week, she went from Jordan's main target to her best friend. In my one word description of her I called her manipulative ... and boy howdy was I right. She has played Jeff and Jordan like a fiddle. Jeff has the power and he has let everyone know it, but his power is blinding him to the truth staring him in the face. Natalie and Kevin are the enemy, but these last two weeks, Jeff and Jordan have lost sight of that. Will it come back to bite them in the butts? Time will tell. Next week Jeff can't play in the Big Brother Head of Household competition, and he'll be particularly vulnerable. What do y'all think of his gameplay? Tell me how you see this all going down.
