Hollywood came out in their usual fashionable fare for the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. We saw a large majority of plain dresses in solid bright colors, wavy updos and chandelier earrings, encapsulating the traditional glamour of the silver-screen sirens. Everyone played it safe and conservative -- some more than others (Meryl Streep didn't even buy a dress). Only a few ensembles took center stage, but here are the contenders and winners: For the classic look, Evan Rachel Wood stunned in a deep teal Monique Lhuillier complemented by her light copper locks. Diane Lane was hot in red, the most popular color of the night, and Frieda Pinto was angelic in a cornflower blue. But Kate Winslet wins the award for the best classic dress with her curve-hugging, cobalt Narciso Rodriguez gown. ![]() Adding some bright colors to the mix, Laura Linney and Eva Longoria chose peachy hues, while Holly Hunter stopped traffic in magenta. However, no one could outshine Viola Davis who radiated in her gold canary one-shoulder gown. Although she went home without an Actor, she's our pick for brightest star of the night. Not to be overlooked, dresses lacking in color were all over the red carpet as well. Amy Poehler, Idina Menzel and Olivia Wilde were sleek and elegant in their white gowns, but Anne Hathaway's jeweled goddess dress by Azzaro took the wedding-like cake. We loved the loose dresses draped beautifully over the gorgeous bodies of Christina Applegate, Lisa Edelstein and Jennifer Morrison, but Angelina Jolie's navy Max Azria gown ranks at the top of our list. Some of the most interesting dresses of the night were fabulously sculpted gowns. With three-dimensional adornments, Teri Hatcher, Paula Abdul and Marisa Tomei occupied extra space but receive extra praise for their bold choices. Our favorite art piece was Amy Adams' plum gown complete with an attached bouquet of bows. ![]() In addition to the sculpted gowns, there were also a number of distinct dresses that kept the red carpet interesting. We want to thank Tina Fey for making moire so chic and modern. January Jones mixed gold, metal and black while Elizabeth Moss went frosted in a short white dress. But our favorite experimental piece was Jane Krakowski's red gown that mixed sporty with sexy by featuring a plunging neckline in front and racerback in, well, the back. And lastly, the questionable outfits worth noting: Emily Blunt's skin-tight sequin gown was a dead fish shade of gray while Nicollette Sheridan seemed to be prepping for a pool party in copious amounts of turquoise chiffon. Alison Pill could have chosen better shoes but at least she was well supported, unlike Katie Holmes who apparently forgot a particular undergarment and gave new meaning to the SAG Awards.
