Most of the fashion at last night's People's Choice Awards seemed to be like the winners -- chosen by the people. Where were Rachel Zoe and all the other celebrity stylists? Probably too busy prepping for the Golden Globes, leaving celebs to fend for themselves with less than exciting results. Despite the show being awash with fashion mediocrity, we still found some fabulous outfits amongst the wreckage.

So here's our list of the PCA fashion hits and misses.

I was hoping a female star would rock the menswear look, and Katherine Heigl did not disappoint. In a black suit with skinny pants and heels, Katherine dressed to impress.

The women of House win the award for best dressed cast in my book. Each of them glowed with fashion-forward looks in black, gold and white. Lisa Edelstein wore a unique black gown with braided and jeweled details on the bib of the dress. Jennifer Morrison shined in her metallic tiled dress reminiscent of Balenciaga's armor suits. And Olivia Wilde graced us with an angelic-white halter gown, adding edge with a slick ponytail.

Although the always stunning Carrie Underwood showcased three different dresses during the night, only two of them made it to our best list. Her first was a country floral gown with a metallic sheen, which was nicely complemented by her golden locks. She also sparkled in her last outfit of the night. With its colorful beaded neckline, thick beaded hem, and bright orange chiffon, Carrie's stunning, citrus dress claimed the wow factor of night.

As younger stars seem to be giving Hollywood regulars a run for their money, the best dressed woman on my list was Dakota Fanning. Unlike the pop tarts we see bursting onto the scene in flashes of spandex and eyeliner, Dakota has grown up in front of the camera and has evolved into quite the young lady. Her bright blue dress was just the right length to be fun but also age-appropriate. The one-shoulder look is mature, but her natural makeup and hair proved she is in no rush to grow up. With this coup, Dakota has put herself on my list of stylish stars to watch.

He can pull off dressing as an old woman, but Robin Williams went too far in his Prince-esque purple velvet jacket and lavender tie.

Paris Hilton chose poorly as usual in her white flowered and sequined dress that looked like it was borrowed from the costume closet of Enchanted.

I so badly wanted Ellen DeGeneres to sport a sleek suit, but instead she went with her daytime look of sneakers and a sweater. Portia should have offered some styling assistance.

Someone forgot to tell Robin Tunney that this wasn't an audition for Dancing with the Stars. She wore a Salsa-style dress, complete with extra ruffles on the hem and sleeves. I don't think L.A. is even warm enough for a dress like that right now.
