Carrie Underwood steals the show and Hollywood goes country.

Country music's stars came out for the CMAs, but Hollywood's A-listers also made their presence known at this year's awards. Reese Witherspoon was on hand. (Did the country music community adopt her after Walk the Line?) Miley Cyrus palled around with daddy Billy Ray and model boyfriend Justin Gaston, and Nicole Kidman stood by her man Keith Urban.

While country's men had their fun in denim, cowboy hats and the occasional three piece suit (thank you, Mr. Urban), the ladies stole the show, particularly one well-dressed hostess. Here are the fashion hits and misses.

The Tops

Taylor Swift sparkled on the red carpet in a metallic, shimmery gown by Kaufman Franco. The dress was sophisticated but young, and it did wonders for Taylor's long and lean figure. Maybe that Joe Jonas will realize the error of his ways.

Nicole Kidman was simple and sophisticated in Jil Sander. The draped-fringe design was a new twist on the little black dress; her hair was sleek and her makeup was flawless.

Nobody can compete with Carrie Underwood, who acted as the show's co-host and donned seven looks over the course of the night. She hit the red carpet in a bold yellow halter gown by Roberto Cavalli, but her on-stage costume changes were pure eye candy. My favorites: the stunning black Badgley Mischka gown she performed in and a charming floral knee-length number by Naeem Khan.

The Flops cma red carpet

Kellie Pickler wore a curve-hugging, shimmery gown by Zuhair Murad, and it hugged those curves to a fault.

Julianne Hough's look of diamonds and hot pink was a bit Barbie doll, and we'd expect more of a risk from the Dancing with the Stars fashionista.

Reese Witherspoon's Marchesa gown just didn't do it for me. The lace, the length -- it was too much look for such a little lady and over-the-top for the down home awards.
