Released: May 25th

Studio: Miramax

Rating: PG-13

Running Time: 120 Minutes

Why: The Golden Door is the prettiest movie of the year. It's in Italian, with subtitles, and it details the immigration of an Italian family to Ellis Island at the turn of the century.

Would Have Been Rated Higher If: Well, it's number one already so it would be tough to climb. But if sports stars can give 120% maybe we should hold out hope. It does take 30 minutes to really get into it, I guess that's a knock if you're a stickler.

Critical Love: A decent 70% on RT and a 74 on Metacritic. Variety, the New York Times, and Salon.com liked it. If you combine that with my hearty recommendation you should be sold.

Box Office: $6.2m. This is a gorgeous movie that will likely be seen by no one (and their cousin). But you can make a difference there. Tell a friend.

DVD Info: Not currently available. But please keep a lookout!
