The Swings of Big Brother

The Big Brother house almost always falls into two alliances and this year is no exception.

As things stand right now, Adam, Sheila, Sharon and Ryan are in one alliance and Chelsia, James, Joshuah and Sharon are in the other.

Last week Matt went home and this weeks it will be either Chelsia or Sharon since James won and used the Power of Veto and Adam put Sharon up in his place.

I do think at times the producers try to have a little influence over decisions made in the house, however,  it would be nearly impossible for them to control who wins the HoH.  While there have been some competitions that favor certain houseguests (hanging competitions tend to favor lighter houseguests), the quiz competitions don't have a clear advantage for any one HG; they each can mentally blank out.

However, as I type this I did think about how last week's competition was geared to force the alliances to work against each other.  The winning houseguest got to pick the next two to compete, which forced allies to take each other out.  In the end though there was still no way to ensure that Adam, Ryan, Natalie or Sheila would win.

With Chelsia most likely leaving, her alliance (no good alliance names this year!), James, Joshua or Sharon would be my odds-on favorite to win HoH and thus force someone from the other alliance out.  If they don't then it is very possible that Ryan, Adam, Natalie and Sheila might make a run in the house secure at least three of the final four places.

The last time the game got extremely "lopsided" was during Big Brother 6 when the "Nerd Herd" picked off a lot of the others.  But even in that case Janelle made it to the final three and only was eliminated because she was beaten in the final HoH competition.  I hope things stay even this season, I think it is much more enjoyable for the average fan.
