This giveaway is now concluded. The Ape Tribunal has decided!

Congratulations to JLKINSER, who won the Planet of the Apes: 40 Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection boxed set with the perceptive, insightful (and multi-movie) answer below. An usual, we'd prefer to have more than one prize to give out here, what with the five worthy responses. (That Statute of Liberty scene sure embedded itself into our cultural landscape, didn't it?) Thanks to everyone who entered. You're all top chimps in our book!

JLKINSER, expect email (then a big box via UPS) very soon.

Here at Film.com, we really like the new Blu-ray format. And not just new releases such as this week's Tropic Thunder or WALL-E (more about those later this week). We're also upgrading our DVD collections to high-def Blu as fast as the release schedules (and our budgets, alas) allow us.

So it's a pleasure to report that Fox Home Entertainment's Planet of the Apes (the good one) is now available in a new Blu 40th Anniversary Edition. In fact, the entire time-twisting, ape-ocalyptic simian series -- including Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, and the unrated version of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (previously unreleased in the U.S.) -- is out on Blu-ray individually and in a super-apey 40 Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection boxed set.

We have a copy of that 40 Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection right here. Even in its unopened shrinkwrap, it looks pretty cool. The big, heavy box holds not just all five Planet of the Apes films on Blu-ray. It also comes with a color-illustrated book about the entire Apes series, special content such as brand new making-of features on each of the sequels, a feature-length Evolution of the Apes documentary, an Impact of the Apes featurette exploring the cultural impact of the franchise, commentary tracks, isolated Jerry Goldsmith scores, and more. Plus, all the new extra features on the Blu-ray discs are also in high-def.
