A prolific Hollywood "script doctor" who has applied his scalpel to five "James Bond" films (including "Diamonds Are Forever" 1971 and "Live and Let Die" 1973) and wrote the final drafts of "Superman" (1978) and "The Deep" (1977). Mankiewicz wrote and directed several episodes of the ABC TV series "Hart to Hart" and made his feature debut with the detective spoof, "Dragnet" (1987), which he also scripted. He is the son of director Joseph L Mankiewicz and nephew of writer Herman Mankiewicz.
