A fiction writer turned Hollywood whiz kid, Stephen Gaghan went from a respected award-winning teleplay author and producer to hot screenwriter in a few short years. Hooking up with Michael R Perry, he made his debut on the small screen with a script for an episode of Fox's "New York Undercover" in 1995. The pair quickly segued to the positions of story editor and writers for the short-lived cult drama "American Gothic" (CBS, 1995-96) and then to the well-respected ABC drama "NYPD Blue" (1996-97).
