Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their first child together, a source has confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE. The couple met in 1997 on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer and wed in 2002. The source said that the actress is due in the fall.

The couple has been off the gossip radar in recent years, but both are currently working on projects for TV. Gellar is set to shoot an HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladays, which she is also executive producing, and Prinze recently shot a comedy pilot for ABC.
