It officially feels like fall after a spate of unseasonably warm weather in Seattle, so it feels like the right time to announce that Rosie O'Donnell has signed on for a Thanksgiving special on NBC called Rosie's Variety Hour. What a treat! I miss Rosie on TV. And she's at her best when she doesn't have to share airtime with those turkeys on The View.
The one-hour special is scheduled to air Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving. The show will reportedly feature celebrity guests, musical acts, comedy skits, and of course, Rosie's trademark giveaways. I'm guessing the family-friendly, non-angry Rosie will show up for this holiday special, but you never know. That's the fun of watching her.
So who will show up at Rosie's Thanksgiving table? I say at least one foodie-type like Rachael Ray -- who has hosted Rosie on her own daytime talk show -- and a few of her celeb friends. Maybe Tom Cruise for old times' sake? Kathy Griffin for laughs? Britney Spears, whom Rosie famously invited over during her troubled, head-shaving period? I'm going to say a definite no on Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Meantime, rumors continue that Rosie is in talks with NBC to host a weekly primetime variety show. Stay tuned!
