biography

Distinguished and prolific writer of stage plays in the 1920s and original and adapted screenplays from 1931. Riskin provided Frank Capra with some of his best material, including the Oscar-winning "It Happened One Night" (1934), "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" (1936) and "Meet John Doe" (1941). He later tried his hand as a producer. Riskin married actress Fay Wray in 1942.
