A lithe, dynamic, compact leading man, Robert Conrad enjoyed considerable success on American TV, most memorably as a private investigator in "Hawaiian Eye" (ABC, 1959-63) and as the handsome super agent James West in the prairie-flavored semi-spoof variation on the James Bond films, "The Wild Wild West" (CBS, 1965-70). Born and raised in Chicago, Conrad began his career as a nightclub singer. Through his friendship with fellow actor Nick Adams, he landed a contract with Warner Bros. which led to his first success on "Hawaiian Eye". When that show was canceled in 1963, Conrad briefly resumed
