Nicole Richie has had her fair share of time on the gossip pages, which focus on everything from her weight to her quibbles with Paris Hilton to her new role as a mommy. As grating as this unending exposure can be, we can at least benefit from glimpses of Nicole's style. Her look is a cross between Kate Hudson's boho hippie and the Olsen twins' street chic; in other words, the happy medium between New York City streets and L.A. beach.

To avoid overwhelming her petite frame, Nicole rarely wears the Kate Hudson long and loose dress, instead creating the same feel with boho blouses or camis. She also shows a love for hippie fashion with her flared leg jeans. But most days, Nicole's outfit proportions are more city chic with skinny jeans, a larger top and heels. And she's no shrinking violet -- she loves to work glamorous gowns with an unconventional twist.

A staple of Nicole Richie's look is her flower power hair. When worn down and wavy you can count on tiny braids pulling her hair out of her face. But when she's not strolling along the streets of L.A., Nicole opts for a more sophisticated hairstyle, with her tresses pulled back into a slick bun or a chic braid.

What makes Nicole's style so unmistakable is not her clothes and hair, but her accessories. She even has her own line of affordable bohemian-inspired jewelry, House of Harlow 1960. She loves scarves, whether wrapped around her neck or her forehead for a '60s look. As for keeping her head adorned, Nicole varies between berets, knit beanies, straw panamas and black fedoras. And of course, no Nicole Richie outfit is ever complete with out those gigantic sunglasses.
