Actress Natasha Richardson died of "blunt impact to the head," according to the New York City medical examiner's office.

An autopsy conducted this morning determined that Richardson suffered an epidural hematoma following her fall during a ski lesson at the Mont Tremblant resort near Montreal. The death was declared an accident.

There was profound bleeding between the skull and the brain's covering, and Richardson was reportedly declared brain dead before doctors could stop the bleeding.
