biography

Best known as the guy with the knit ski-cap in the 1960s comedy-pop band "The Monkees." Drawing on his experiences with the "Monkees" TV show--in which the group's music was secondary to their visual packaging--Nesmith became an influential figure in the music video field in the late 1970s, developing the idea which led to the formation of the "MTV" (Music Television) cable channel. He produced over 50 early episodes for MTV as well as serving as executive producer of several feature films (including the cult favorites "Repo Man" 1984 and "Tapeheads" 1988), and is also a successful entrepreneur, through his Pacific Arts Video company, in the video publishing field.
