Mel Gibson's wife Robyn Gibson has filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage. She filed the petition in Los Angeles on Monday, April 13, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple issued a statement saying, "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."

The couple have seven children -- Hannah, 28, twins Edward and Christian, 26, William, 24, Louis, 21, Milo, 19, and Thomas, 9. Robyn is seeking joint custody of their youngest son.
Robyn has sought the services of attorney Laura Wasser, who most recently represented Britney Spears in her divorce from Kevin Federline. TMZ.com has alleged that the Gibsons did not have a prenuptial agreement. In 2006, Mel's fortune was estimated at $900 million.
