The band reduced its name to just Marilyn Manson; was named Best Heavy Metal Band by New Times Magazine
1993
Signed with Nothing Records, the record label of Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor
1994
Released debut album Portrait of an American Family and opened for Nine Inch Nails; bassist Gein was replaced with Twiggy Ramirez
1995
Released second album, Smells Like Children which included the hit cover of the Eurythmics' “Sweet Dreams”; Berkowitz quit the band due to conflicting musical interests and was replaced by guitarist Zim Zum
