A country-western and blues crooner known for his top-hat hair, Lyle Lovett was born and raised in Texas. After traveling in Europe, he returned to the USA and made his acting debut as a singer on a beach in the TV-movie, "Bill on His Own" (CBS, 1983). The following year, he moved to Nashville to pursue a recording career, landing a studio gig as a backup singer for recording artist Nanci Griffith.
