Ranking Luke Wilson on the Eve of Henry Poole is Here

The youngest Wilson bro has done a few lame rom-coms - but a few beauties too.

Henry Poole Is Here is here! But before Luke Wilson gives us a lesson in faith at the multiplex this weekend, let's take a second to review his career and decide if we have enough faith in the youngest Wilson brother to invest $11 to see his latest project.

For Ye of Little Faith:

Blonde Ambition:
Luke probably took on the uplifting Henry Poole to lift his own spirits after the embarrassment of his role in this Jessica Simpson vehicle that was deemed so unworthy to be seen that it only played in one Texas movie theater, for one day.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend:
If only they'd been so kind as to contain this schlocky superhero-spoof to one theater, fewer people would've known about Luke's cheesy performance in one of the lamest comedies of 2006.

Alex and Emma:
Luke's older brother Owen is an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter. Unfortunately, Luke didn't seek his advice before agreeing to star in this convoluted, completely illogical rom-com about a writer who must write an entire novel in one night.

For Those Who Go to Church on Christmas Only:

The Family Stone:
Luke uses that patented, laid-back Wilson charm to good effect in this holiday comedy. But this Stone couldn't shine when compared to the last time Luke belonged to a dysfunctional family.

We're Taking Conversion Classes:

Legally Blonde and Charlie's Angels:
As the love interest of Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz, respectively, Luke wasn't given much to do but sit back and be charming. We'll never know how much effort this required of him, but he made it pretty effortless for Reese, Cameron, and all the ladies in the audience to fall in love with him.

We Believe!

Old School:
Having to play the straight man opposite both Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn at the same time is not an enviable task. But Luke managed to steal some laughs from his colorful co-stars, and make us truly empathize with "The Godfather" of this unconventional fraternity.

The Royal Tenenbaums:
Think it was hard to compete with Ferrell and Vaughn for laughs? Try finding a way to stand out in a cast that includes Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bill Murray, and your own big brother! But as the tortured Richie Tenenbaum, Luke pulled off one of the darkest, yet still hilarious roles of his career, and served as the emotional center of Wes Anderson's black comedy. That performance makes me believe that if I keep tabs on Luke's career, my faith will be rewarded with the chance to see him bring us more characters that will be just as memorable.
