biography

With director Jim McBride, made the ingenious mid-1960s gem "David Holzman's Diary" (1967). Carson's later work as a scenarist has produced mostly middling fare, though his collaboration on Wim Wenders' much-lauded "Paris, Texas" (1984) earned him renewed praise. Son Hunter Carson, by actress Karen Black, made a memorable screen debut in "Paris, Texas".
