Secor entered acting after high school, training at the Los Angeles Actors and Directors Lab and with the improvisational group The Groundlings, and acting in local productions of "Equus" and "The Lion in Winter", among others. Secor made several films appearances in the late 1980s in the likes of "Heart of Dixie" (1989) and also played a dying AIDS patient on five episodes of TV's "St. Elsewhere".
